Recipes from Harvest to Plate 2019
This was our second Harvest to Plate, held on Sunday 6th October alongside our monthly lunch. The event was aimed at sharing good ideas for cooking or processing allotment-grown fruit and veg, and celebrating the harvest season - "This is what I grow and how I use it in the kitchen."
Thank you to everyone who brought dishes, and as always, our 'first Sundays' cafe team.
We asked for recipes for the dishes - here they are...
- Apple and Ginger Jam (Sarah Fenn)
- Autumn Apple Cake (Susie Harrison)
- Beetroot and Tomato Soup (Sarah Fenn)
- Courgette Chutney (Christine Heath)
- Courgette, Pea and Spinach Soup (Christine Heath)
- Easy Strawberry Ice Cream (Liz Sagar)
- French Apple Tart (Jess York)
- Indian Carrot and Onion Salad (Sue Hanson)
- Kookoo Sabzi (Nadia Rostami)
- Pickled Cucumber (Sue Hanson)
Plant Pots
Thanks very much to all who've previously donated / returned pots to the bin or box outside the Trading Shed.
Three requests:
1) If there is no bin or box, please don't leave your pots.
2) No thanks - nothing bigger than 1.5 litres. We simply don't need them. Leaving them is just the same as dumping them. We have to pick them up, store them, and arrange to take them to the Recycling Centre where they go into the general waste. If you don't want them, please take them home and put them in your grey rubbish bin.
3) Yes please - small pots are most useful, definitely needed and appreciated, and save us buying yet more plastic!
Thanks again!
