Compost donation
I'm delighted to be able to tell you that, this week, our treasurer Peter sent a cheque for £150 to the Gardeners' Benevolent Fund. As many of you know, the Alexandra Park contractor moves our compost up the hill to our car park, and asks us in return to make a donation to their nominated charity. Our donation on this occasion was much higher than the £100 we've been able to give for previous deliveries because we benefited from several extra tonnes of compost. This additional quantity had been left over from the 'compost giveaway' organised the week before by local enviromental volunteers, and it needed to be cleared for the Ally Pally fireworks. So, not only is our compost very good value, but the 50 pences paid for each barrow go to a very good cause!
